For a $5 survey you usually looking at a 30 minute survey and for something as big as $40 you are looking at a 2 hour survey. Whichever way you look at it you will be bringing in a decent wage and the more you do the faster you become and the more efficient at answering also.

Surveys are dependent on the person, period. If you want to work 6 hours a day doing surveys you will make probably $200, maybe more within that time. However this does depend on your own efficiency and whether or not you actually know about the product rather than researching it  in order to fill out the survey.

I can’t show you the whole thing but this is a screenshot of one of the pages (I shrunk it down to size so that it’d fit). There must be some reason for the widespread scepticism. First of all, work at home programs in general have a bad name on the internet. There are so many scams that it is quite difficult to find a decent, legitimate program that an ordinary person like you or me can make money with. Granted, there are some out there, but finding them is the problem. You will often have to join and try many ‘not so good’ programs before you find one that fits the bill.

Another problem people have with surveys is that you generally have to pay to join a survey site. The fact that you have to ‘pay to work’, again sets the alarm bells ringing. Sure, you could do the research yourself, but it is unlikely that you would find such a wide range of surveys, and in the time you’d wasted Googling for surveys you would have earned back the join up price (and more) anyway. The bad news about the “good” companies is that the surveys are few and far between, are usually only available by e-mail invitation and take a while to get a check or deposit into your Paypal account. If you’ve ever participated in a survey at the mall or through a neighborhood research firm, you know that you’re lucky to make $100 a year doing this.

The good news about the “good” companies is that you don’t have to worry about them selling your information to unscrupulous companies, charging your phone bill for something you didn’t buy or trying to “trick” you into buying anything. A good company doesn’t operate that way.

The “bad” survey companies are the ones that offer cash, actually pay cash, but fill your e-mail inbox up with so much spam that you end up spending a good 15 minutes a day deleting all of it. The “bad” survey companies are legitimate to the point that they actually do pay cash once you’ve accumulated a certain amount, but are also interested in getting you to visit the websites of their marketing partners, where you will be pressured into signing up to learn more about affordable health insurance. If you show any sign of interest, expect at least three calls a week from various telephone representatives.

The bad news about the “bad” companies is that you have to keep on your toes. You’ll often find yourself directed to other websites, they will try to sell you many products that you don’t need or want. You have to stay one step ahead of them, or participating in a survey will cost you more than you’ll make.

The good news about the “good” sites is that they’re easy. And that you can make money by referring others to the site. And if you learn the ropes (never, under any circumstances, say that you’re interested in learning more about health insurance), you can earn a few bucks. Cashcrate is one of these sites. It’s bad because you’re constantly being barraged with ads during the course of the survey, but it’s good because you can pick the surveys you want to take and they pay cash once you’ve accumulated $20. You just have to make sure you empty your spam folder every day, delete your cookies each day and sift through a lot of junk e-mail.

The really, really ugly sites are just downright scams. They won’t offer you any money, instead, they’ll offer you a chance to win “thousands” in their sweepstakes. Or they’ll make ridiculous claims about making “thousands of dollars a week” on their site. They will attempt to get as much information from you as possible and then promptly sell it to third parties. They will try to trick you into accepting “free” magazines and charge your telephone bill for a subscription. They will ask for your cell phone number and charge you for ringtones. They’ll do anything and everything to try to weasel money out of you and you’ll receive nothing in return.

There’s nothing good about these really, really ugly sites except that they’re easy to spot for anyone with an IQ over 60. Unfortunately, the elderly, the young and the very greedy are their favorite prey. Beware of any online survey site that charges a rather large fee to join, or has a bunch of “testimonials” from people claiming to have made $10,000 a month on their site. If it was that easy, no one would work; we’d all stay home and do surveys.

So enjoy the good, be careful with the bad and stay away from the really, really ugly.

Again (like with most survey sites) your options will be limited if you’re outside the US. You’ll get a few offers to complete if you’re in the UK, but I can’t guarantee what kind of offers and surveys you’ll get if you live anywhere else.

However, these sire may require you to use your credit card for some of the offers. There are times when you are asked to buy something to get paid. You will need to keep track of the products or services you have signed up for, and make sure you cancel any free trials you do not want to keep when the trial period is over. You really need to keep track of when you signed up for these free trials so that you will not end up paying for something you do not want.

Be aware that by visiting and using these sites you will get marketing phone calls, mail, and, email. If you shop online these sites can save you a good deal of money and supplement your income as well. There are ways for you to cut some of the privacy factors as well.

The decision on which way you wish to make money online is up to you. Try the different types of making money to see which ones you prefer. All paid for survey, and GPT sites are free to join, so you have nothing to lose by trying them. I have never paid for a list so I don’t know if they have a different list than the free lists. That would be a personal choice too, but I would try all of the free lists before I thought about paying for a list. Have patience, nothing good ever happened overnight.

Also most survey sites that you join (e.g. 123 Cash Surveys) offer some of these ‘get paid to’ opportunities as bonuses. So when you sign up you don’t have to ‘just’ take surveys. You could also get paid to write, get paid to drive, or even get paid to shop!

When you are participating in online paid surveys, a lot will hinge upon your personal profile. Where you live, your age, and even your interest preferences. It will also depend upon whether the companies needing information are interested in hearing from you according to your profile. When you fill out your profile, make sure you check everything you are even remotely interested in or know anything at all about. You will be unable to alter your gender, age, and location, and they are also factors in which surveys you will be eligible for.

My advice is to sign up for every survey site you possibly can. The more you are affiliated with, the better your chances are of being eligible for more surveys. Remember, as I said before, make sure you set up a separate email account for your paid surveys, otherwise you will find yourself in a world of confusion. Also keep in mind that focus groups will pay you much more for your opinions than regular surveys so sign up for those too.

You should also realize that it will take a bit of time for these companies to get to know if you will be a dependable survey participant, so if you don’t get as many surveys as you expected, hang in there and over time you will build up a reputation for being reliable. You will have some months when you will make a little and other months where you will make much more. It all depends on the surveys available to you at the time.

I would say when you are starting out, sign up for all of them. Later on, if you feel you are too swamped with this type of survey, you can choose to drop some of them.
